CDA Davao joins Seminar on Phases of SCCs Development


Twelve (12) Cooperative Development Specialist II from Davao Extension Office had succesfully and actively participated the Module 2: Phases of Savings and Credit Cooperative(SCC) Development & Financial Disciplines and Standards Training of the CUES 3 Training Program with theme "Building Capacities for an Effective Regulatory and Supervisory System". The recent seminar was held at MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center on March 24-25, 2009.

WOCCU(World Council of Credit Union, INC)-CUES(Credit Union Empowerment and Strengthening)Project Director Adrian had imparted his expertise on leading the cooperative to a moderm path. Adrian and the rest of the training team had presented a new model, a paradigm shift from the traditional focus to a New Focus. The content of the module speaks primarily on the Seven Deadly Credit Union Sins to wit : External Dependency; Opaque Financial Discipline ; Uncompetitive Products and Services; Poor Public Image; Undisciplined Fiscal Operations; "Cooke-cutter" Loan Analysis; Social Philosophy over Common Business Sense.

The three (3) Phases of Development starts from Phase I : FOUNDATION of Individual SCC's that occurs on the 1st up to the 2nd Year; Phase II : INSTITUTIONAL GROWTH particularly on Branches of SCCs that happens on the 3rd to 4th Year; and finally Phase III : EXPANSION , the final stage which will hopefully happen in the 5th year and onward that will create 2nd Tier Network and Link SCCs and Branches.

Joining the Davao delegation were the CDS II assigned in the field namely : Teresita Argel, Noemi Magabilen, Joan Budo, Clariza Cantos, Agnes Jaylo, Randy Albores, Geralyn Lumawag, Rhandy Corro, Leslie Armendi , Fe Laud, Zara Perez and Rodrigo Cayasan. They will be participating the next module on SCA & Pesos this coming April 2-3, 2009 on the same venue.
